alpha-Methylstyrene (AMS)
Georgia Gulf produces alpha-methylstyrene (AMS) as a co-product in the phenol production process. AMS is an intermediate chemical which is used in the manufacturing of plasticizers, resins, and polymerization production processes. AMS helps Georgia Gulf to manufacture vinyl compounds which perform in specific ways to meet the needs of our customers. For example, AMS allows the vinyl in automobiles to be more resistant to heat and more flexible.
