Every fall, employees at Georgia Gulf's Plaquemine, Louisiana, complex go door-to-door, visiting almost 300 nearby neighbors to deliver important emergency response information.
Members of the Plaquemine complex's Community Advisory Panel (CAP) meet monthly at the facility. During the meetings, neighbors have the opportunity to learn about Georgia Gulf's safety and environmental performance. Perhaps even more valuable is the role these CAP members play in expressing concerns and offering suggestions for how the company can continually improve its communications with the community as a whole. The company's Pasadena, Texas, and Aberdeen, Mississippi, facilities also participate with CAPs.
A number of Georgia Gulf facilities carry out on-site drills to help train emergency response teams and practice their emergency response skills.
